Many young riders dream of owning an adventure bike in India to explore diverse terrains and embark on long rides. Recently, we tested the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, one of the country’s most popular adventure motorcycles. Here’s our full, honest review to help you decide if this bike is the right choice for you.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Review – What You Need to Know

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a well-loved adventure bike known for its rugged design and practical features. Its commanding stance grabs attention on the road, while the upright 90-degree seating position ensures comfortable riding without straining your back. We took it through typical Indian roads filled with potholes and rough patches, and the Himalayan’s suspension made the ride surprisingly smooth and enjoyable. Unlike some stiffer adventure bikes, its suspension feels forgiving off-road.

Though the bike looks big and heavy, it’s surprisingly manageable. It never feels unstable, even in heavy traffic. The power delivery is strong and responsive, especially at mid-to-high RPMs, making highway rides effortless. However, below 3000 RPM, the bike can stall, requiring some clutch control—but the clutch itself is light and easy to operate.

Another highlight is the turning radius. Despite its size, the Himalayan handles tight U-turns and narrow roads with ease. The wide handlebars are easy to reach without strain, and the bike’s weight helps keep it stable in windy conditions.

Comfort-wise, the seat is well-cushioned and ergonomically designed. The narrow section near the fuel tank allows riders to grip the bike firmly with their legs. At 5.9 feet tall, I could comfortably plant my feet on the ground, so don’t be intimidated by the seemingly tall seat height.

Should You Buy the Royal Enfield Himalayan?

The Himalayan 450 is a solid choice for an adventure bike in India, especially if you want capable off-road performance at an affordable price. However, it lacks some modern features like cruise control and traction control, which might make competitors like KTM’s adventure bikes more appealing to some buyers.

If you’re seeking a reliable, rugged bike for exploring rough terrains and long rides without breaking the bank, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 deserves serious consideration.
